I've known about Flex for awhile now and to be honest I'm quite comfortable coding in Flash. I didn't really plan on moving into Flex but the only decent Component Architecture tutorials I could find were based in Flex (which makes sense). So, I thought I'd anti up and give Flex a shot. I did a quick tutorial and then did a quick Papervision 3D project within it.
And WOW! What have I been doing writing code in Flash??? Flex is an awesome development environment. I don't know why I didn't begin working in Flex a long time ago. The sheer speed of coding is worth it alone. I also found that I could easily access and write code for things that I usually have to step back and reference (either by Help, Internet or literally sifting through files). As long as I had the general idea of what it was I was trying to code (as most people do) I could manage to get it coded without having to refer to references.
When I coded in Flash I would typically write code, test, get error, fix error, test, theres still an error, fix error, test and "ta-da". But in Flex, it gives me the code errors as I'm typing them. I love that! That way when I test my movie the first time, it works the first time. Who woulda though...
Anyways, I know, tell me I'm a professional development environment newb... but I happily accept my "newb-ness" and shall embrace it with warmth and anticipation.
